Hey Sunrise……. Tony Bouso mentioned this RRCF Endurance program several times in the past weeks and encouraged us to look into it. So here goes:
A couple of Sunrise members did attend the Red River CrossFit Endurance Project information meeting (and workout) this past Saturday morning. (reminder to self to skip the Saturday long run if I intend to introduce my muscles to anything new right afterwards – take that back, my muscles had JUST enough time to get really cold and stiff before I did the workout)…… J
My understanding of the project: they did not use the work “boot camp”, but that is my description. It is a 90-day boot-camp commitment and it is geared toward endurance athletes. Obviously there was a wide range of fitness levels represented (a couple of hard bodies………to marathoners wanting to improve their times for a winter marathon…………to me, probably the least-fit person that they have ever encountered in their gym). The trainers were very gracious and encouraging.
The program is based on a three day on…….one day off routine. Not all of the time will be in the gym – they like to get outside and off-site. One hour of high intensity, high endurance workouts. Everything from squats, sprints, burpees, kettle balls, push-ups, wall-ball throwing, etc. They promised to modify the expectations toward each athlete’s ability, but they will push you to do your best. They also focus on proper diet…..they would like you to eat ‘clean’ for the duration of the project. Imagine, going through a holiday cycle and not gaining weight, but becoming more fit!!
I plan to join………starts next Monday…………but they do need more people to commit. Right now they have enough for a 6am class and a 4pm class, I think, but I was really hoping for a 6pm class. Of course, I would love to see any and all Sunrise members, but I especially would like to see some of us that really need to push their fitness levels. If you have any questions, please let me know………….or call them directly. (670-7920).
