This is always one of the drawbacks of USA triathlons. There is rarely an explanation provided for DQ's. In Australia (strange how I selected that example!) the officials will tell the offender to his face what the infraction was so that the racer will know not to do that again in a future race.
I mention this because I saw that Colin McElroy was DQ'd in the Sunrise #3 race. I mentioned it to him and he had no idea he was disqualified. Without the DQ he would have been third in his age group. His response was that he's not worried about it, no big deal.

That is a good attitude to have and a great way to approach it. What was his race number?
