Unless something happens, the Michael Simpson Crossroads Time Trial Series for 2012 is OVER until next April.
We had the last of six runnings south of Shreveport at the venerable old course. We were absent of a lot of the usual horsepower. In fact, several of the fast boys came out tonight just to watch and see the amazing work that goes on behind the scenes. They were amazed, of course, and went away thinking that racing the bikes was much, much easier than working a time trial. I could have told them that.
I'm left wondering why more triathletes don't do this time trial. It's the best way to test your equipment under race conditions and you'd rather have your stuff break out here than during a race because you didn't check to see if your cables or chain or wheels could handle it when under load. I purposefully schedule this series so that it ends about two weeks before the River Cities Triathlon just for this reason. A number of multi-sporters do come out but there should be more of you guys out here getting sweaty. Think about it for next year.
Louise Smyth tied her own course record for women tonight with her 16:58 time. Wow, she's fast.
So here it is, the results. Weather: Clear, temps of 93 degrees (felt like 98), winds out of the south at 11 mph (the course is east-west).
