Sent this out via email this morning but it is here as well for a reminder! If you need anything please let me know!!
I am pretty sure that just about everyone knows me. If not here's a little crash course. My name is Jeremy Brown and I am the club IT director (in Lehman's terms, the appointed nerd) and I am also the one who maintains the club site, forum and do all of the facebook interactions for the club. Along with those duties I am also designing a new web site for the club and also in the process of designing the club a smartphone (iPhone, Android and iPad) app for the club. Both the site and the app will be fully interactive, easy to navigate and will have a more current/fresh look. With all of that being said I am sending out this email for two reasons. One is to help people to navigate around these different social networking platforms we have and 2 is to extend my personal time and assistance to anyone who has any type of issues with them. Anyone who knows me knows that a great word to describe me is passionate. Whether it is about training, my family, life or nerd-type stuff. I take it very personally when something I do isn't understood, feared or just plain doesn't work. I currently work for NBC 6 doing the majority of their web/graphic design and handling their web design business. On top of that I have had my own business for a little over 5 years now so i understand what is a brilliant idea in my pea brain isn't always great for others. So I am here to alleviate any concerns or thoughts about our platforms. Honestly, I prefer facebook as my personal favorite way to stay socially connected. I am working to revive that platform and it will be a very helpful tool in the future. For now, Tony wants us to use the forum as our primary tool for communication. So I have a couple of things that can help you with change over.
1. If you make a post on the forum, or you like a post someone else made, you can "bookmark" it so that you receive an email notification when a new post is made on there. To do this, when you find the one you want to "follow" simply click the word book mark in the top right corner of the thread. Please see attached image for a visual (I need visuals probably more than anyone to help me so I hope it helps you!)
2. For those who have a smartphone ie. iPhone, Droid or iPad- There is an app available for you for your phone. Super easy to use and easily accessible. Face it, we all love our devices and if you are like me, you will find yourself messing around on them at some point during the day (iFunny is one of my favorites!) Here is the link to the info about the app. It covers way more than I could ever tell you.

One thing I would ask. Whether you are for or against the forum, as TB has stated, let's give it a fair shake. I have a lot of personal time and effort invested and if nothing else, just do it to make me happy! JK There will be a new version of the board released soon (who knows how soon) and I have personally seen it and it is A LOT nicer and user friendly! So we will keep our fingers crossed on that. If you are opposed to the forum for whatever reason, please send me an email. This isn't a bash session, but i hope to hear all of your all's feedback both negative and positive. It will only help me to help you.
Lastly, we have a facebook page.
www.facebook.com/pages/Sunrise-Triathlon-Club/269004530473
Please go there and "like" our page. Personally, I think that this could be a great catalyst for our club communication as far as from a day to day basis. The forum will be great for archiving and keeping our communication for those to go back over when they feel they need to but facebook will be perfect for our daily type interactions. So get on there and say hey or whatever. We are a very social group of people and we have many tools for us to use. So let's take advantage of them.
If anyone has ANYTHING that is IT/nerd related and would like to let me know (from suggestions to compliments to dislikes) please feel free to email me or call/text and we can get it taken care of! Sorry for the long email but i feel this info is crucial for the continued growth and success of our club. Please reply directly to me and not the group with any replies. Thanks for your time and attention and I hope everyone has a safe New Year and an AWESOME 2012!! See you around!
