It was actually a nice evening out on the time trial course tonight. Crosswinds were in effect but wasn't as big a deal as it's been the last few weeks.
Louise Smyth set ANOTHER course record for women out there tonight, knocking out a 17:16 to shatter her previous 17:23 set on May 11, 2011. Thing was, we didn't know it was a course record until I got home and looked it up. Otherwise we'd have made a bigger deal of it!
Mat Davis didn't set any records, cranking out a mere 15:08 time. Maybe he was looking forward to his baby duties tonight?
Here's the results of TT #1 for May 9, 2012:
1. Mat Davis, 15:08 (29.14 mph) 2. Peter Eckels, 16:23 (26.91 mph) 3. Jason Sanders, 17:01 (25.91 mph) 4. Louise Smyth, 17:16 (25.54 mph)* 5. JP Bullock, 17:23 (25.36 mph) 6. Greg Bell, 17:40 (24.96 mph) 7. Joshua Hudson, 17:50 (24.72 mph) 8. Chris Bowen, 17:52 (24.68 mph) 9. Tony Bouso, 18:27 (23.90 mph) 10. Calvin Sears, 18:53 (23.35 mph) 11. Doug Collier, 19:25 (22.71 mph) 12. Robert Reneau, 20:20 (21.68 mph) 13. Brent Burt, 20:26 (21.58 mph) 14. Jack Ward, 20:35 (21.42 mph) 15. Brian Willis, 20:41 (21.32 mph) 16. Shelby Townsend, 20:58 (21.03 mph)

The usual volunteer thanks go to Mike Cook and Tanya Tingle. Thanks, too, to Christie Hudson for pushing the button. Jeremy Brown came out to take pictures. Results will also be posted at the Mike Simpson TT Series page on Facebook (like us!).
Next time trial is Wednesday, May 23rd with the first rider off at 6:45 pm. See you there!

Update to Louisie's "supposed" TT course record: it didn't actually happen tonight. I made a mistake and spoke too soon.
Louise actually set the record on July 7, 2010 with a time of 16:58, the first woman to break 17 minutes on that course. Congrats, Louise! You still had a great run tonight!
